Another good win for U13 footballers 24th Feb 2019 Tullogher Rosbercon 5:2, Glenmore 2:9 The U13 footballers have made it two wins from two games with a narrow win against neighbours Glenmore in a hard fought league contest. Glenmore went into the game having played two games, winning one and losing one. It was apparent that they were training hard since the start of January by completely dominating the game for the first 25 minutes going ahead by 1:06 to no score. It looked as if Tullogher struggled to get to grips with the Glenmore speed and style of play and could hardly manage to get the ball past the halfway line. A few positional moves by the mentors towards the end of the first half made a big difference as Tullogher worked the ball up the field and scored a goal with a ground shot through centre forward Andrew Murphy. That was quickly followed by a lovely move that was finished to the roof of the net by Joe Malone. Halftime score: Glenmore 1:06, Tullogher 2:0 The second half was played with Tullogher having the upper hand in most areas. James Cummins broke through early to score a fine point, followed by a goal scored with a high lobbing ball by Sean Ryan. Glenmore never gave up wend ahead again with a goal and a point. Tullogher struck back with a point from Michael Sydney, another goal from Andrew Murphy (that was carried all the way from midfield) and a well taken goal from James Cummins. Glenmore gave it everything for the remainder of the game but could only manage two further points. Tullogher held out for a two point win. 5:2 to 2:9 Panel on the day was: Philly Murphy, Kyle Cummins, John Murphy, Joss O’Connor, Niall Cummins, David Kennedy, Adam Whyte, James Cummins, Dean Kinsella, Joe Malone, Andrew Murphy, Michael Sydney, Evan Fitzgerald, Sean Ryan, Liam Murphy, Brian Minihan, Sean Hanrahan, Ciaran Cummins, Darren Reddy, Keelan Ryan and Phoenix Doherty.
Thanks to all players parents and Mentors. U13’ Footballers off to a winning start in League Tullogher Rosbercon 3:5 Rower Inistioge 3:1 The U13’S footballers kicked off their season last Sunday 17th Feb with a good win over The Rower. The Rower opted to play with the strong breeze in the first half and started very well by scoring a goal from the penalty spot. That was followed by another quick goal from the Rower. Despite playing against the wind, Tullogher got to grips with The Rower and started to dominate in all areas of the field. The hard work started to pay off when Evan Fitzgerald finished a cross-field pass to the net putting Tullogher on the scoresheet. That was quickly followed by a point from strong full forward Sean Ryan. The Rower managed to sneak through for a goal in the late stages of the first half with a rare attack. However just before the break, Tullogher responded with a brilliant solo goal that was carried all the way from midfield and buried to the net by Andrew Murphy. The Rower went in at half time 2 points up. 0:3 to 2:1 Tullogher did not take advantage of the wind in the early stages of the second half. Instead, it was the Rower who were creating chances and were rewarded for the hard work by scoring a good point that put them 3 ahead. This was quickly followed with the awarding of a penalty kick to the Rower. Unfortunately for them, Goalkeeper Philly Murphy pulled off a great save. That was the turning point of the game. A long period with no score for either team was ended with another goal scored by Andrew Murphy. Tullogher upped the pace of the game for the last ten minutes and finished very strong, ultimately winning by 5 points through three well taken points from Andrew Murphy, and a point each from midfielder Dean Kinsella and half forward Michael Sydney. The back line that worked hard to keep the Rower out on the day was as follows: Philly Murphy (Goalkeeper), Kyle Cummins, David Kennedy, Sam Ryan, Joss O’Connor, John Murphy, Niall Cummins, Liam Murphy and Darren Reddy. Midfield partners were Dean Kinsella and James Cummins. Hard working forwards on the day were Joe Malone, Andrew Murphy, Brian Minihan, Phoenix Doherty, Sean Ryan, Evan Fitzgerald, Michael Sydney, Ciaran Cummins and Sean Hanrahan. Thanks to all players, parents and Mentors. Next up: Sunday 24th Feb V's Glenmore (in Glenmore) @ 11.00
