The Intermediates lost out to Emeralds (Urlingford) in the 5th and final round of the Michael Lyng League on Saturday in Palmerstown. The Emeralds started better and dominated the early exchanges. Double marking Walter Walsh and dropping their half forwards and midfielders back meant the space in the middle third was at a premium. After 20 minutes, the Emeralds led 0-09 to 0-04, Tullogher’s scores coming from the excellent free taking of Liam Barron. Tullogher responded with the half back line led by immense efforts from Pat Hartley and Anthony Cotterill starting to dominate and added three points through Martin Bookle, John Barron and a free to leave the half time score 0-09 to 0-07.

Dominating the 3rd quarter, Tullogher found scores hard to come, however  an excellent point from Wally Walsh and another from John Cotterell brought the minimum between the sides. Emeralds continued with fouling Wally every time he got ball in hand. Try as they might Tullogher could not draw level. A couple of points by the Emeralds substitutes stretched the lead and ultimately earned them victory. Tullogher now face Mooncoin in the 1st Round  / Relegation Semi next weekend.
