Tullogher came up just short after a good performance in their opening game of the Intermediate League Championship against Mullinavat. Wally Walsh was unable to play due to an elbow ligament injury. Tullogher dominated the opening exchanges, with the defense led by Pat Hartley in control. The Tullogher defense was harshly penalised with the awarding of a penalty to Mullinavat late in the1st half, however the penalty was blazed wide to leave the score tied at 0-06 a piece at half time.
Tullogher conceded a scrappy goal at the start of the 2nd half after spurning a number of chances to clear the ball. Mullinavat dominated and extended their led to 7 points with 20 minutes to go. Good work by Cian O’Donaghue gave Ted Cullinane a chance which we expertly dispatched to the net. Tullogher continued to battle but found the scores hard to come by. Another Cullinane chance was well saved, before Brendan Lawlor stuck a goal after another O’Donaghue assist. Unfortunatly the referee blew the final whistle before the comeback could be completed. Final score Tullogher Rosbercon 2-09 Mullinavat 1-14.
