The Intermediates lost to Mooncoin in the 1st round of the Intermediate Championship last Sunday in Mullinavat. Tullogher started the game brightly with a wonder point from Pat Hartley after breaking out of the defence. The attack was combining well, and increased Tullogher’s lead. However the concession of a goal from Danny Purcell gave Mooncoin a lead which they would hold for the rest of the game. Mooncoin further increased their lead when a long range free found its way straight to the Tullogher net. At half time Tullogher trailed by five points.
The second half was a tough championship affair, anytime Tullogher managed to reduce the lead, Mooncoin responded with a score. Tullogher fought to the end, led by the two Hartley’s, Peter Meggs, Richard Dollard (in 2nd half) and John Barron. Requiring a goal Tullogher failed to create the necessary chances and eventually lost on a scoreline of Mooncoin 2-14 Tullogher Rosbercon 0-15.
Tullogher now play the loser of the Conahy Shamrocks and John Locks (Callan) 1st round replay in the Intermediate Relegation Final. The game is expected to be played on Saturday, Oct 27th.
The Conahy Shamrocks and John Locks drawn game was a stereotypical game of two halves. Callan were dominant and led 0-09 to 0-04 at halftime. Conahy totally controlled the second half and led 0-15 to 0-12 in injury time when Callan scored an unlikely goal to level matters at the final whistle. The replay takes place on Sunday, Oct 20th.
