In Slieverue last Friday night the Junior A’s were beaten in the Quarter Final of the Junior A South Championship by the Rower Inistioge. Within 15 minutes of the start Tullogher had lost 3 players, Joe McCarthy and Kieran Barron to ankle injuries and Padraig Ryan to a straight red card. The 14 men regrouped and fought bravely for the remainder of the half against the previously unbeaten Rower team to trial 0-09 to 0-07. The points coming from Martin Bookle (2), Mark O’Brien, John Hartley and 3 frees.

The second half started as the first finished with Tullogher battling for every ball. However midway through the 2nd half the Rower struck the sucker punch when a good shot nestled in the corner of the Tullogher net. Requiring goals Tullogher pushed forward and were rewarded when Martin Bookle found the net from a rebound. The Rower’s luxury of having an extra man in defence prevented Tullogher from reducing the gap further. The game and the Junior A season ended on a scoreline of the Rower Inistioge 1-19 to Tullogher Rosbercon 1-10.
