Tullogher Rosbercon and The Rower Inistioge played out a very exciting draw in the 4th round of the Junior A League Championship on Saturday, July 20th. On a sunny evening the home side, The Rower, started brightly and dominated the first half. An early goal pushed them into a lead which they maintained for the entire half to lead 1-08 to 1-03 at the break. A goal from Donnacha O’Connor keeping Tullogher in touch.
A rejuvenated Tullogher dominated the start of the second half and were rewarded with a goal from Ted Cullinane. The game ebbed and flowed for the remainder of the half. A goal for The Rower was cancelled out by a second Donnacha O’Connor goal with the next play. As the game entered the last 5 minutes Tullogher were trailing by a single point, a point from the Rower pushed them 2 ahead before Cian O’Donaghue converted a 65 and scored a free with the last puck of the game to leave the sides level. Tullogher showed great battling qualities after a poor first half and could easily have won the game had they converted some of the missed goal opportunities in the second half. Final Score Tullogher Rosbercon 3-12 Rower Inistioge 2-15.
Both teams now remain locked at the top of the table with 3 wins and a draw each with 2 rounds left to play. Tullogher welcome Ballyhale Shamrocks in the next game on Tuesday, July 30th.
