U10's after winning the Martin Codd Cup in Rathnure

All-Ireland Semi Finals

Well done to Walter Walsh and Conor Hennessey who both had huge games for the Senior and Minor county teams last weekend in the all-Ireland semi finals in Croke Park. Walter had a great 1st half vs Waterford and won several frees at vital times. Conor came off the bench to save the minors yet again and in extra time added more scores. He was also fouled for what was the equalising free in last puck of the game. Best of luck to Conor and the Kilkenny team on Sunday in the replay at 12pm in Croke Park.

The U10’s had a fabulous day out on Saturday 1st August in Rathnure in the Martin Codd Tournament. They played Monageer, Rathnure and Davidstown to get into the quarter final against Askamore. They overcame Askmore and then Graiguenamanagh in the semi final to set up
a final against Ferns. They beat Ferns in final with a score of 5 goals 3pts to 1 goal 2pts. So after 2 hours of hurling the captain on the day Marty Murphy was presented with The Martin Codd Cup.
The panel on the day was made up of Adam Arthurs, Fionn Connolly, Kyle Cummins, Phoenix Doherty, Jack Handrick, David Kennedy, Aidan
Lawlor, Joe Malone, Tom Martin, Niall Mooney, Andrew Murphy, John Murphy, Martin Murphy, Sean Power, JJ Ryan, Sean Ryan, Conall Tobin,
Adam White.

Junior A Championship

The Junior A's played Dunnamaggin in the South Semi Final on Friday last in Ballyhale. The boys started off very well leading after the 1st quarter by 0-6 to 0-4, with John Barron, Brendan Lawlor and Billy Ryan getting on the scoreboard. At 1/2 time it was 0-9 each. Tullogher went into a 1 point lead at the start of the 2nd half. However a mixup around the Tullogher 21 led to Dunnamaggin scoring a goal to put them into a 2 point lead.  There was 3 points between the side for much of the 2nd half and Dunnamaggin stretched to 4 points and looked to be heading for victory. However Tullogher got a 21 with 5 mins left and a great strike by John Barron to the top of the net left 1 point between the sides.
From the puckout Dunnamaggin had a shot for a point which dropped short and into the back of the net.  Dunnamaggin added 2 further points before Billy Ryan added a late goal to leave the final score 2-16 to 2-12.  Dunnamaggin progressed to the South Final vs Carrickshock. Hard luck to the team and mentors who had a great run through the league stages and with a small bit of luck would have made it to the final..

Junior B Championship

The Junior B's played the 1st round of the championship on Sat vs Ballyhale Shamrocks in Mullinavat. Playing with the wind in the 1st half the lads were well in the game by adding goals at vital stages. A goal each from Padraig Ryan and Rory Byrne and a fine point by Martin Bookle kept the lads in the game up to 1/2 time on a scoreline of 2-3 to 0-12. Ballyhale scored some great long range points during the 1st half. The 2nd half was a different story as Ballyhale took over completely , and even though the only added a goal in the closing minutes ran out easy winners on a scoreline of 1-19 to 2-3. This was the end of the road for the Junior B campaign but they have played over 12 games during the season and should be proud of their efforts.

The intermediates played Thomastown in the All County league on Saturday and with a lost out on a scoreline of 0-20 to 0-12 in Brownstown.

The U16s played the 1st round of the championship last week and proved no match for John Lockes who ran out easy winners on a scoreline of 6-21 to 3-7. It was a hard year on the boys playing in Roinn B and thanks to the mentors Murt Flynn , Frank Morrissey and Joe Walsh for their work with the lads during the year.

The U12s played 2 games in the Kilkenny go games league. 1st game was away to Barrow Rangers and the lads had a great win on a scoreline of 5-8 to 0-1. They also played Borris Kilcotton from Laois and the Laois boys proved very tough opposition and went home winners on a scoreline of 3-7 to 3-2
