Intermediate Hurling League

The Intermediates took on Conahy Shamrocks in the 5th and final round of the group stages of the intermediate hurling league. A win was vital for both teams with the possibility of a quarter final place or relegation playoff depending on scores of other games.

The teams were even in the during the 1st quarter scoring 0-5 each, with 0-3 coming from frees by Cian O'Donoghue and a point each from Liam Barron and Ted Cullinane. It continued close right to half-time to finish 0-9 each at the break. scorers in the second quarter were Cian (0-02 Frees) and Walter Walsh and Conor Hennesssy scoring 0-1 each. Conahy seemed be be scoring a bit easier from play in the 2nd quarter and drew one great save from Martin Roche in goal.

Tullogher started off the 2nd half with a barrage of scores. scoring 1-3 inside the opening 7 minutes. It opened with 2 frees from Cian and then Ted Cullinane scored a vital goal which put the Tullogher lads 5pts up. Conahy's only response was 2 points from frees. A point from Walter Walsh stretched Tullogher's lead and they never looked like losing in the last 10 minutes. Conahy added another point from a free to bring their 2nd half score to 3 points all from frees. Tullogher then extended their lead with 2 further points from Cian O'Donoghue to finish winners on a a scoreline of 1-15 to 0-12.

Overall it was great display from the lads which ensured that they would finish 3rd in the league table and avoid any possible relegation battle. Glenmore's win against Gowran denied Tullogher Rosbercon of 2nd place in the group and an automatic quarter final place.

The lads will now play St Lachtains in the knockout stages of the championship which will take place at the end of September .
