Tullogher recording a deserved 1-15 to 1-10 victory yesterday over bogey side of recent years, Conahy Shamrocks in the 2nd round of the Intermediate League Championship. Playing with the aid of the wind, they started brightly with an opening point from a Liam Barron free. Further points from the excellent James Mullally, Anthony Cotterell and Liam Barron left Tullogher leading 5 to 2. Midway through the half, a long delivery into the Tullogher penalty area was won by Conahy’s Alan Healy who struck the ball to the net to leave the scores level. Tullogher responded quickly, Wally Walsh won procession 40 metres out, drove towards the goal and hit the back of the net with a low shot to the corner. Points from Liam Barron, Wally and Mullally gave Tullogher a deserved 1-10 to 1-04 half time cushion.

At the start of the 2nd half Tullogher stretched the lead further thanks to points from Wally and Mullally. Conahy fought hard, but could not break down the Tullogher defense, led by the excellent Tullogher half back line who mopped up a mountain of ball. Liam Barron completed the Tullogher scoring with 2 frees. This was an excellent team performance with all 15 players contributing handsomely to victory.
