Tullogher came up just short in their opening game of the Intermediate League Championship against current All Ireland Junior Champions, St Patricks Ballragget. Playing against a strong wind, Tullogher started brightly and went point for point with Ballragget to leave the scores 0-05 to 0-05 after 20 minutes. Pat Hartley was the pick of the defense, leading powerfully from centre back. Ballyragget hit a purple patch and scored 5 unanswered points before half time to leave the score 0-10 to 0-05 at the interval. Things could have been worse except for a wonderful point blank save from Martin Roche.

With the winds on their backs Tullogher started the 2nd half quickly and reduced the lead to 2 points. Tullogher tried valiantly throughout, however points from Walter Walsh, John Barron, Padraig Ryan and the accurate free taking of Liam Barron were cancelled out and the gap could not be bridged the gap further. St. Patricks successfully managed to restrict the space in the Tullogher forward line and reduce the scoring opportunities while on the other end of the field they were clinical in taking any opportunities that arose.
Tullogher will be disappointed with the result, but should take heart from the strong preformance. Next up are Conahy Shamrocks on May 13th game.
